Unlike Hivra’s other integrations, X charges per API call — reading a post, looking up a profile, publishing a tweet, replying, or liking a comment all cost money on X’s side. To keep plans affordable, Hivra gives every paid subscription a monthly X API budget and tracks every X call your workspaces make against it. This article explains how the budget works, what happens as you get close to it, and what to do if publishing or syncing to X pauses.
X requires a Creator or Business plan to connect at all — see Plans and pricing. The budget described here applies once you’ve connected an X account.

What the X budget is

The budget is per subscription, not per workspace — if your Business plan has 5 workspaces, they all draw from the same monthly amount.
X charges roughly $0.005 for each post it returns, $0.01 for each profile it returns, $0.015 for each post, reply, or like you make, and $0.20 for a post that contains a link. Hivra passes these costs through as a shared monthly budget instead of billing you per call.
The budget resets at midnight UTC on the 1st of every month, regardless of your subscription’s own billing date.

Usage levels

Hivra tracks your spend against three thresholds. Each one changes what still works:
A call that would itself push your spend past the 130% ceiling is refused rather than allowed through — so actual spend never runs far past the limit.

Checking your usage

1

Open Billing settings

Go to Settings → Plan & billing. The X API usage card appears for any Creator or Business subscription (it’s hidden on the Free plan, since Free can’t connect X).
2

Read the usage bar

The card shows how much of your monthly budget has been used, when it resets, and a status chip — Within budget, 80% used, Automatic updates paused, or Paused until next month.
3

Review the breakdown

Below the bar, a per-category breakdown shows what the spend went toward: Publishing, Replies/likes/deletes, Comment syncing, Analytics, Follower counts, Connecting X, and (where applicable) DM syncing and DMs sent.
The info icon next to X API usage explains X’s per-call pricing and how the budget is calculated, in case you want the specifics.

What pauses at each level

At 100% — automatic updates pause

Once your usage crosses the full monthly budget, Hivra stops making X calls it initiates on its own schedule:
  • Refreshing analytics metrics (views, likes, impressions) for your X posts
  • Refreshing comments in the Engagement inbox for X accounts
  • Refreshing follower counts for connected X accounts
Nothing already fetched disappears — Hivra keeps showing the data it last synced. It just won’t update again until the next reset, or until you reduce usage pressure by upgrading or adding a workspace.

At 130% — publishing and actions pause

Once usage reaches 130% of the budget, anything that sends a request to X on your behalf is paused until the reset:
  • Publishing a post to X from the Composer
  • Posting a first comment to X
  • Replying, liking, unliking, or deleting from the Engagement inbox
  • Connecting a new X account
Your other connected platforms — YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Threads — are never affected by the X budget.

What you’ll see in the Composer

If you try to publish while the X budget is at 130%, the Composer deselects X (or blocks you from selecting it) and shows an X paused for this month modal. It explains that the budget limit is reached, gives the date it resets, and confirms your other selected platforms are not affected. A See X usage link takes you straight to the usage card in Billing.
If you try to connect a new X account while the budget is at 130%, the authorization flow stops with a message explaining the X budget is reached and pointing you to Settings → Billing.

Notification preference

Hivra sends you a notice the first time your usage crosses 80%, 100%, and 130% in a given month, in-app and by email by default. To manage this:
1

Open Notification settings

Go to Settings → Notifications.
2

Find X usage

Under the X usage category, toggle X API usage alerts to control how you’re notified when your monthly X budget reaches each threshold.

Getting a bigger budget

Since the budget is shared across your whole subscription, there are two ways to raise it:
  • Add a workspace. Each add-on workspace adds $1.00/month to your X budget, in addition to the extra workspace itself. See Plans and pricing.
  • Upgrade to Business. Business includes a $7.50/month X budget, three times the Creator plan’s $2.50.

Troubleshooting

X is the only platform Hivra connects to that charges per API call. The other platforms (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads) don’t bill Hivra this way, so they have no equivalent budget.
This means your subscription’s X budget reached 130% for the month. Check Settings → Plan & billing to confirm, then either wait for the reset on the 1st (UTC) or add a workspace / upgrade to Business for a bigger budget.
This is the 100% “automatic updates paused” level — background refreshes for X analytics, comments, and follower counts pause, but publishing and manual actions keep working until usage reaches 130%. The data shown is simply the last successful sync.
If the OAuth flow stops with a message about the X budget, your subscription has reached 130% usage for the month. Resolve it the same way as a paused post: wait for the reset, add a workspace, or upgrade to Business.
No. Usage is only recorded for actual calls to X’s API — publishing, replying, liking, and the background syncs described above. Drafting or editing a post in the Composer does not call X’s API.
